Jared, a junior from Plymouth, N.H. was named CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Jared contributed six tackles (five solo) – 2.0 tackles for loss, including a quarterback sack – as well as a fumble recovery and a pass breakup to help lead UNH to a 16-6 victory against No. 7/9 Elon University at Wildcat Stadium on Nov. 11.

He spearheaded a Wildcats' defense that limited the Phoenix to a season-low 31 yards rushing, forced three turnovers and shut out the visitors until there was 3:16 remaining in the game.

New Hampshire (7-3, 5-2 CAA) ends the regular season Nov. 18 (1 p.m.) at the University at Albany. The NCAA FCS selection show is Nov. 19, and the Wildcats look to extend the nation's longest active streak to 14 consecutive years.

Late in the second quarter, on Elon's subsequent drive after UNH took a 7-0 lead, Jared sacked the Phoenix' quarterback for a 13-yard loss on 3rd-and-7 to force the visitors to a three-and-out and keep momentum in favor of the 'Cats.

After New Hampshire extended the lead to 13-0 in the third quarter, Jared jumped on a loose ball to give the 'Cats possession at the Elon 46 with 5:20 remaining.

This is the fifth CAA weekly award bestowed a UNH Wildcat this season. Jared is the second 'Cat to received the Defensive Player of the Week honor.
