Michael McNicholas, a junior from Manhattan Beach, Calif., recorded two goals and two assists for four points to lead the UNH men’s hockey team to a 7-4 victory at Brown University on Jan. 8. The goal and assist totals matched personal bests and the four points marked a career high.
Michael’s power-play goal at 17:04 of the first period gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead, and he set up the team’s third goal 53 seconds into the second stanza to give the ‘Cats a 3-0 advantage. His second power-play goal of the game reestablished a three-goal lead, 4-1, and ignited a stretch of three consecutive goals that gave UNH a 6-1 advantage through two periods.
Michael has recorded a point in 13 of 17 games with six multiple-point efforts. He has 21 points on nine goals and 12 assists, and he has a team-high seven power-play goals.
