McGrath helped spur the Wildcats to a home meet victory in the team's season opener against Maine. After sitting out his first season due to injury, McGrath returned to the Paul Sweet Oval and competed in the high jump; McGrath won the event with a jump that cleared 6'8.25", which was just under an inch off the school record for the indoor high jump of 6'9". It beat his old personal best height of 6'4", on just his third registered collegiate result in the high jump.
