Kaylan Williams, a junior from Marion, Indiana, helped lead the UNH women's soccer team to a split against Arizona State University and University of Arizona at the Sun Devil Desert Classic (Sept. 1 & 3).
Kaylan factored in both Wildcat goals in the 2-1 victory against Arizona State. She was fouled in the penalty area and teammate Ally Reynolds scored on the ensuing penalty kick to give UNH a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute. Thirty-two seconds later, Kaylan scored her first goal of the season on a blast from well outside the 18 that sailed under the crossbar to extend the advantage to two goals.
The victory vs. Arizona State is UNH's third win against schools in a power-5 conference and first vs. a Pac 12 team.
Kaylan has started all six games this season and leads the Wildcats with 12 shots.
UNH (3-3-0) returns to action Sept. 9 (1 p.m.) at Northeastern. Kaylan and the 'Cats are back at home Sept. 13 vs. intrastate rival Dartmouth College; game time at Wildcat Stadium is 7 pm.
