DURHAM, N.H.--Ty Conklin recorded 21 saves and Matt Swain scored the game's only goal as the University of New Hampshire Wildcats (19-4-5, 11-2-5) beat the University of Maine Black Bears (15-7-4, 6-7-3) 1-0 at the Whittemore Center on Sunday afternoon.
The win moves New Hampshire into a first place tie in Hockey East with Boston University.
Ty COnklin recorded the second shutout of his career, making 10 saves in the final period. Maine goaltender Matt Yeats made 37 saves for the Black Bears.
New Hampshire scored the game's only goal when Matt Swain scored his fifth goal of the season at 14:26 of the second period. Jason Shipulsi came down the right wing and fired a shot on Yeats. Swain then came down the left side, piced up the rebound and beat Yeas to give New Hampshire the 1-0 lead.
The two teams battled to a scoreless first period as Yeats made 14 saves for Maine, while Ty Conklin stopped 6 shots for the Wildcats.
