Robinson Nets 22 Points in 80-61 Loss to UVM

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior guard KiJan Robinson (Apopka, Fla.) scored a game-high 22 points but the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team was defeated 80-61 by the University of Vermont at Lundholm Gym on Saturday afternoon.
Robinson's season-high 22 points was scored on 6 of 12 shooting from the floor, which included 4-for-7 from 3-point range, and a perfect 6 of 6 from the foul line. He also had three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Junior forward Belal El Shakery (Alexandria, Egypt) finished with 11 points, team-high six rebounds, and four assists, which also led the team. Redshirt freshman guard R.J. Kennedy (Fayetteville, Ga.) had 10 points.
UVM was led offensively by TJ Hurley (20 points), Gus Yalden (18) and Sean Blake (17).
UNH moves to 4-10 overall and 0-1 in America East while Vermont is 9-7, 1-0.

FIRST HALF
- Jack Graham (Smithfield, R.I.) hit a 3-pointer on the first possession of the game and Robinson's 3-pointer in transition gave the Wildcats their largest lead of the game, 6-2, at 18:00.
- After Vermont leveled the score at 6, Robinson connected again from behind the 3-point line to put UNH back in front, 9-6, at 15:37.
- Hurley's driving layup gave UVM its first lead of the game, 10-9, at 14:51 and was part of a 6-0 run by the Catamounts that gave the visitors a 14-9 advantage at 11:40.
- Davide Poser (Veneto, Italy) hit a 3-pointer midway through the first half to trim the deficit to 16-14.
- Vermont built a double-digit lead, 29-19, on Yalden's layup at 6:27.
- UNH answered with a 9-0 run capped by a 3-pointer by Kennedy at 3:14 to pull within 29-28.
- The Catamounts closed the half on a 10-3 spurt to take a 39-31 into halftime.
SECOND HALF
- UVM opened the second half with a 7-2 run to push the advantage to 13 points, 46-33, at 18:29.
- A layup by El Shakery advanced the score to 52-41 before a 9-2 spurt by the Catamounts pushed the margin to 61-43 at 12:53.
- UNH closed within 12 points, 65-53, on Graham's layup at 7:59 but the Wildcats would get no closer the rest of the way.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Robinson's 22 points surpassed his previous season high of 21 set vs. Boston University.
- The four 3-pointers vs. UVM tied his season high established in that game against the Terriers.
- El Shakery has been UNH's top rebounder in 12 of 14 games.
- He tied his career high of four assists set in the 2023-24 season at Wofford.
