Emuobor Scores 18 Points in 80-76 Loss at NJIT

NEWARK, N.J. – Junior guards Comeh Emuobor (Raleigh, N.C.) and KiJan Robinson (Apopka, Fla.) scored 18 and 16 points, respectively, but the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team was upended 80-76 by NJIT at the Joel & Diane Bloom Wellness & Events Center.
Emuobor also pulled down six rebounds while Robinson tied for the team lead with four assists. Sophomore forward John Squire (Sausalito, Calif.) finished with seven points, nine rebounds and career-high four assists. Junior forward Davide Poser (Veneto, Italy) recorded 10 points, four rebounds and four assists.
NJIT was led by David Bolden (21 points) and Ari Fulton (18).
UNH moves to 4-11 overall and 0-2 in America East while NJIT, which outscored the Wildcats 11-1 in the final three minutes, is 7-10, 2-0.

FIRST HALF
- There were nine lead changes and six ties in the first half with neither team leading by more than six points.
- NJIT built an 8-2 lead 90 seconds into the game.
- With UNH trailing 16-10, Tyler Bike (Merrimack, N.H.) hit a 3-pointer at 13:52 to trim the deficit in half and ignite a 9-0 run that gave the Wildcats a 19-16 lead at 10:10 when Robinson made a layup.
- UNH trailed 24-23 until three consecutive fouls shots and Bike's 3-pointer put UNH back in front, 29-24, at 4:16.
- The Highlanders went on a 9-2 spurt to regain the lead, 33-31, at 1:44.
- R.J. Kennedy (Fayetteville, Ga.) made a fastbreak 3-pointer from the left wing with 59 seconds remaining to ignite a half-ending 7-0 run that gave the Wildcats a 40-35 lead through 20 minutes.
SECOND HALF
- A layup by Emuobor and another 3-pointer by Kennedy extended the margin to double-digits, 45-35, at 18:44.
- Belal El Shakery (Alexandria, Egypt) made a pair of foul shots to give UNH its largest lead of the game, 53-42, at 15:36.
- NJIT scored 14 consecutive points to surge ahead, 56-53, at 12:28.
- The 'Cats answered with a 13-4 run to go back in front, 66-60, at 8:13.
- Robinson made a pair of free throws to give UNH at 75-69 lead at 3:29 but the Highlanders scored eight consecutive points to inch back in front, 77-75, at 1:42.
- The home team limited the 'Cats to one point on their last three possessions to secure the win.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Emuobor scored a season-high 18 points on six field goals and six foul shots. His career high is 20 points.
- The six free throws did mark a personal best for Emuobor.
GAME NOTEBOOK
