Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the week: Lydia Hart and Jayden Buckrell

DURHAM, N.H. – Freshman Lydia Hart (Cornwell, Ontario.) of the University of New Hampshire swim and dive team and freshman Jayden Buckrell (Collingwood, Ontario) of the ski team were named the Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week on Feb. 24.

Lydia earned dual honors as Most Outstanding Swimmer and Rookie of the Meet at this past weekend's America East Championships Feb 19-Feb 22 at the VMI Aquatic Center. This marks the first time an athlete achieved both America East honors since 2014.

Lydia delivered a historic performance on day two of the America East Championships, breaking school and America East records in the 500 freestyle with an NCAA B-cut time of 4:42.12. This finish gave UNH its first individual gold of the meet.

Lydia also came in first place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:47.89. This win also gave the Wildcats 20 points towards their total tally and helped propel the 'Cats into first place overall at the America East Championship.

On the opening day of the meet, Lydia broke a school record in the 200 free while leading off the 800 free relay clocking in at an impressive time of 1:46.74.

Jayden had a very strong performance at the UNH Carnival-ESIA championship/NCAA Regionals held Feb 20-Feb 22. He finished with a time of 1:28.18 that would help him secure first place in the Slalom and added 50 points to their total score. The Wildcats finished third overall at the meet with 750 points overall.

Jayden was rewarded for not only his great performance at the UNH Carnival but also for an excellent season overall when he received Alpine Rookie of the Year honors at the end of the meet.
