Durham, NH – The University of New Hampshire men's basketball team defeated UMass Lowell, 80-79, Saturday afternoon from Lundholm Gymnasium.

Junior guard Sami Pissis (Paris, France) led the 'Cats by recording 21 points and the game-winning three, junior guard Anthony McComb III (Dayton, Ohio) tallied 16 points in the win, and freshman guard Khalil Badru (New Britain, Conn.) got into double digits recording 13 points.

The Wildcats improve to 7-20 (5-7 AE).

FIRST HALF

The River Hawks won the tip and quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead but the 'Cats fought right back, highlighted by a three from sophomore forward Davide Poser (Veneto, Italy), making it 6-5 UNH at the first time out 4:04 minutes into the game.
The River Hawks went on an 8-0 run in the following two minutes, but the 'Cats wouldn't let them get far, making it 16-12 UML with 10:49 left in the half, highlighted by a three from Khalil Badru.
UMass Lowell kept the scoring going with a 7-2 run, increasing their lead to nine points and making it 23-14 with 7:23 left in the half.
The 'Cats wouldn't let the River Hawks pull away, keeping it a close game trailing by 10 points, highlighted by a corner three from freshman guard Antoni Siewruk (Koszalin, Poland) and nine points from McComb III since the last timeout, making it 38-28 to end the first half

SECOND HALF

The River Hawks put their foot on the gas to start the second half, going on an 11-5 run, leading by as much as 17 points in the first 4:31 minutes, making it 49-33 UML.
Both teams got hot, with the River Hawks scoring nine points and the 'Cats scoring 11 in the following 3:37 minutes to make the score 58-44 UML, highlighted by threes from junior guard Jawarie Hamelin (Westerly, R.I.), Sami Pissis, and Davide Poser.
