UNH Edged 69-68 in Closing Seconds at Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H. – Junior guard Comeh Emuobor (Raleigh, N.C.) scored a season-high 15 points but the Dartmouth College men's basketball team made the game-winning basket with seven seconds remaining to defeat the University of New Hampshire, 69-68, Wednesday night at Leede Arena.
Emuobor shot 50 percent from the floor (5-for-10) and was a perfect 5 of 5 at the foul line. Redshirt freshman guard R.J. Kennedy (Fayetteville, Ga.) scored 12 points and junior guard KiJan Robinson (Apopka, Fla.) had 10.
DC was led by Kareem Thomas (18 points), who hit the game-winning field goal, Brandon Mitchell-Day (15) and Jayden Williams (14).
UNH is now 2-7 overall and Dartmouth is 3-3.

FIRST HALF
- Davide Poser (Veneto, Italy) scored UNH's first six points of the game to give the Wildcats a 6-3 lead at 16:58.
- Trailing 11-9, UNH surged back in front, 14-11, on a 3-pointer by Kennedy and layup by John Squire (Sausalito, Calif.).
- Fueled by a pair of Robinson layups, the 'Cats went on an 8-2 run to build a 22-14 lead at 5:30.
- Dartmouth made a pair of 3-pointers to trim the deficit to 32-30 with 42 seconds on the clock.
- Robinson's jumper with 11 seconds on the clock sent UNH into halftime with a four-point lead, 34-30.
SECOND HALF
- The Big Green opened the second half on a 7-1 spurt to retake the lead, 37-35, at 16:57.
- Emuobor's three-point play was followed by a 3-pointer by Tyler Bike (Merrimack, N.H.) to give UNH a 41-40 lead.
- The score was tied at 44, 46, 48 and 50 before the 'Cats scored back-to-back basketball by Jack Graham (Smithfield, R.I.) and Robinson to take a 54-50 lead at 7:52.
- Consecutive dunks by Belal El Shakery (Alexandria, Egypt) and Emuobor 12 seconds apart advanced the score to 60-54 in favor of UNH at 6:35.
- Kennedy's layup gave UNH a 68-60 lead at 2:32, but those proved to be the last points of the game for the 'Cats.
- Leading 68-67, UNH missed a 3-pointer with 35 seconds to play and DC pulled down the defensive rebound but Graham immediately stole the ball and called time out with 32 seconds on the clock.
- The 'Cats missed a jumper in the lane with 13 seconds to play. The Big Green quickly advanced the ball upcourt and Thomas made a layup with seven seconds remaining to give the home team a 69-68 lead.
- UNH's long 3-pointer from the right wing fell short at the buzzer.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- El Shakery had a career-high three blocks.
- Graham recorded a career high of three steals.
- UNH has lost the last two games by a total of five points.
