Four 'Cats Score in Double Digits in 86-75 Loss at Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior forward Belal El Shakery (Alexandria, Egypt) scored a career-high 19 points but the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team was defeated 86-75 by Harvard University on Sunday afternoon at Lavietes Pavillion.
El Shakery also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and was credited with three steals. Junior guard Jack Graham (Smithfield, R.I.) scored 17 points redshirt freshman R.J. Kennedy (Fayetteville, Ga.) had 15, both of which were career highs. Junior guard KiJan Robinson (Apopka, Fla.) finished with 12 points and season-high six assists.
Harvard was led by the duo of Chandler Piggé (23 points) and Robert Hinton (22).
UNH is 1-2 and Harvard is 2-0.

FIRST HALF
- UNH shot 53.3 percent from the floor, including 9-for-15 from 3-point range, to build a 48-32 lead through 20 minutes.
- Robinson's 3-pointer gave UNH a 5-2 lead at 18:27.
- Kennedy connected from behind the 3-point line at 16:56 and 15:47 to give UNH a 13-6 lead.
- UNH went on a 12-0 run to extend a two-point lead to 25-11 at 11:11. The spurt was highlighted by a Comeh Emuobor (Raleigh, N.C.) dunk and 3-balls by Graham and El Shakery.
- Harvard inched within 30-23 at 8:04 but Robinson's jumper capped a 7-2 spurt that pushed the margin to 1, points, 40-25, at 4:15.
- The lead ballooned to 20 points, 48-28, on Graham's fourth 3-pointer of the half at 2:10.
SECOND HALF
- El Shakery's layup opened the second-half scoring to give the Wildcats a 50-32 lead.
- Harvard went on a 17-0 run the next five minutes to pull within 50-49.
- Another field goal by El Shakery ended the run, but the Crimson took a 54-52 lead when Thomas Barreis II hit a 3-pointer at 13:18.
- Kennedy answered with a 3-pointer at the other end of the court to put UNH back in front, 55-54, and El Shakery's layup made it a three-point lead at 12:02.
- Graham's jumper gave UNH a 66-58 advantage at 8:29 but Harvard scored 11 consecutive points to surge back in front, 71-66, at 4:25.
- The 'Cats closed within a point, 72-71, at 3:08 on a field goal in the paint by El Shakery.
- Harvard closed the game on an 11-2 run in the final 2:32 to pull away for the win.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Graham and Kennedy both made four 3-pointers. Kennedy made 4 of 5 attempts from beyond the arc and Graham shot 4-for-6.
- El Shakery bested his previous career high of 15 points established in February 2024 with Wofford (against The Citadel).
