El Shakery Records 12 Points, 8 Rebounds in 61-44 Loss at George Mason

FAIRFAX, Va. – Junior forward Belal El Shakery (Alexandria, Egypt) recorded 12 points and eight rebounds but the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team was defeated 61-44 by George Mason University at EagleBank Arena on Saturday afternoon.
This is the third consecutive game El Shakery has led UNH in both scoring and rebounding. He was withing two rebounds of recording his third double-double of the season. Junior guard Jack Graham (Smithfield, R.I.) was next with 10 points.
GMU was led by Dola Adebayo (14 points) and Riley Allenspach (13; 11 rebounds).
UNH has alternated wins and losses this season for a 2-3 record and the Patriots remain unbeaten at 4-0.

FIRST HALF
- Allenspach scored the first points of the game on a field goal at 18:50.
- El Shakery's layup tied the score, 2-2, on the next possession at 18:36 and he made another layup at 10:07 to forge the second – and last – tie of the game at 10:07.
- Jahari Long hit a pair of free throws at 9:11 to give the Patriots a 13-11 lead they would not relinquish.
- Following two more GMU foul shots, Tyler Bike (Merrimack, N.H.) hit a 3-pointer to lift the Wildcats within 15-14 at 7:46.
- George Mason inched ahead, 20-14, but Graham hit a pull-up jumper on the right wing to trim the margin to 20-18 at 4:11.
- The teams exchanges scores and Bike's two foul shots with one second on the clock sent the teams into halftime with George Mason leading 29-25.
SECOND HALF
- Davide Poser (Veneto, Italy) made a 3-pointer to lift UNH within 38-36 at 12:00.
- The Patriots went on a 12-0 run the next 3:15 to build a 50-36 advantage.
- A layup by Comeh Emubor (Raleigh, N.C.) ended the run at 8:21, but GMU went on a 5-0 spurt the next three minutes to hold a 55-38 lead
- Graham's 3-pointer trimmed the deficit to 55-41 at 5:31, but the Wildcats did not score again until the closing minute.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- El Shakery has scored in double digits each of the past four games and has pulled down at least seven rebounds all five games.
- Bike went 4-for-4 from the foul line and scored seven points; he also had three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
THE BOX SCORE
- George Mason had a 44-30 rebounding advantage and attempted 27 free throws in comparison to UNH's nine.
- The Patriots had a 14-5 scoring edge in points off turnovers, 34-22 advantage in the pain and 12-10 edge in second-chance points
