DURHAM & PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – UNH Athletics and The Music Hall announced an expanded partnership that will bring family-friendly entertainment to the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex, starting with three-time Grammy award nominees The Avett Brothers on Thursday, May 1 (8 p.m.).
Tickets for The Avett Brothers, which go on sale to The Music Hall members Wednesday, Oct. 2, go on sale to the general public Friday, Oct. 4 (10 a.m.) at themusichall.org.
"UNH Athletics is thrilled to collaborate with The Music Hall, bringing more artists and concerts to the UNH campus for enjoyment by our broader communities," said Allison Rich, UNH Director of Athletics. "This endeavor will benefit both institutions greatly and we are eager to see where we can take this partnership."
"As a proud UNH alum and past UNH employee, it's been invigorating to build an even bigger bridge between our two great flagship institutions for the state of New Hampshire," said Tina Sawtelle '96, The Music Hall President and CEO. "Thanks to the leadership of Allison Rich and her team, we now can forge ahead by expanding our programming model to cover the genres Music Hall patrons have come to love and venturing further into newer genres that will attract multi-generational audiences."
The collaboration between the longtime partners allows diverse entertainment options of marquee artists, comedy performances, and family-friendly programming to be featured in the comfort of the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex, a 5,000-plus seat arena that allows for larger capacity and a convenient location on New Hampshire's Seacoast. A capacity building grant awarded by the NH State Council on the Arts will help underwrite this collaborative effort.
For more than a decade, The Music Hall and UNH have worked together to bring exceptional cultural experiences to our community through events, and this latest development further strengthens that relationship.
