Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week: Emma Reaves and Gunnar Sokol

DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore Emma Reaves (Wesminster, Md.) of the UNH women's track & field team and junior Gunnar Sokol (Berwick, Maine) of the UNH men's track & field were named the Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week on April 8.
Emma swept the discus and shot put to earn a total of 14 points for the Wildcats and co-MVP honors at the 3rd annual Jim Boulanger Invitational that was held April 4 at UNH's Reggie F. Atkins Track Facility. The sophomore thrower helped the Wildcats to a first-place team finish.
Emma led the discus from start to finish with a throw of 43.99m on her first attempt and her best effort of 46.98 meters (154 feet-1 inch) in the second round. She was also atop the shot put leaderboard from beginning to end with a mark of 12.76m on her first attempt and then recording the winning throw of 14.07m (46-2) in the third round.
The UNH women's track & field team is split this weekend. The distance runners will compete at the Friar Invitational (April 10; 3:30pm at Providence College) and the remainder of the team will compete at the Ed Daniels Classic (April 11; 11am at SNHU).
Gunnar won both the long jump and high jump at the 3rd Annual Jim Boulanger Invitational to earn 14 points and co-MVP honors. The junior jumps specialist helped the Wildcats to a first-place team finish.
Gunnar began his day with a first-place effort of 6.69m (21-11.5) as the Wildcats took the top three spots in the long jump. He climbed from the runner-up position to the top of the leaderboard with that winning leap in the third round.
In the high jump, Gunnar cleared heights of 1.77m, 1.82m, 1.87m and 1.92m (6-3.5) on his first attempt to take first place.
