Three 'Cats Named to The Bluebloods FCS Preseason All-American Team

Dylan Laube and Dylan Ruiz Earn First Team Recognition; Josiah Silver Named to Second Team
DURHAM, N.H. – Dylan Laube (Westhampton, N.Y.), Dylan Ruiz (Kissimmee, Fla.) and Josiah Silver (Hampton, Va.) of the University of New Hampshire football team were all named to The Bluebloods 2023 FCS Preseason All-American Team in mid-June.
Laube, a senior running back, was named 1st Team Special Teams as an all-purpose player and Ruiz, a junior defensive lineman, was a 1st Team Defense selection. Silver, another junior defensive lineman, earned 2nd Team Defense recognition.
The All-American team of 98 players represents all 13 FCS conferences and 49 schools. UNH is one of 21 schools with multiple honorees.
This is the second preseason All-America accolade for Laube and Silver, both of whom were named to the Athlon FCS Preseason All-America Team in May.
UNH, ranked No. 8 in the Athlon preseason poll, kicks off the 2023 season Sept. 2 at Stonehill College. The Wildcats' home opener is Sept. 16 against Dartmouth College.

Laube was named to seven All-America postseason teams in 2022 – five as an all-purpose player, one as a kick returner and one as a punt returner – while Silver received All-America recognition from four organizations and Ruiz received three All-America accolades.
Laube finished the 2022 season as the national leader in all-purpose yards per game (194.3) and ranked in the Top 10 in four other stats: No. 2 in total touchdowns (19), No. 4 in scoring (9.5 points/game), No. 8 in rushing TDs (15), and No. 8 in punt return average (13.7 yards/return).
On the CAA leaderboard, Laube ranked in the Top 5 in nine stats – including No. 1 in all-purpose yards/game, scoring, total touchdowns and kickoff return average (25.8 yards/return) – and he was the team leader in 14 statistics.
Laube's season highlights included a school-record 424 all-purpose yards in the NCAA first round vs. 16th-ranked Fordham University, tying a school record with a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown at 14th-ranked Richmond, matching a school record for longest punt return with a 92-yard TD at Towson, and breaking the Wildcat Stadium record for longest punt return with a 43-yarder vs. 21st-ranked Elon.
He finished the season with 1,209 rushing yards, which ranks seventh on UNH's list of single-season superlatives. Laube was the team's leading rusher all 12 games, finished with five games of 200+ all-purpose yards, and also rushed for 100+ yards five times, including a career-high 202 yards at UAlbany.
Laube rushed for three touchdowns in that game vs. the Great Danes and also had three rushing TDs in consecutive games against Maine and Fordham. Overall, he scored at least one touchdown in 10 of 12 games played.
Laube was a three-time CAA All-Conference honoree with selection to the First Team as a punt returner, Second Team as a running back and Third Team as a kickoff returner. Laube was also named to the New England Football Writers All-New England Team.

Ruiz is another 2022 New England Football Writers All-New England Team selection who was also named to the CAA All-Conference First Team as a defensive lineman. He was selected to the Ted Hendricks Award Watch List, which includes players from both FBS and FCS, as the top defensive lineman in the nation.
Ruiz ranked No. 5 in the nation in sacks per game and was the CAA leader in that stat. He led UNH in sacks and quarterback hurries, and tied for the team lead in forced fumbles. Ruiz ranked second on the team in both solo tackles and total tackles, as well as tackles for loss.
His season highlights included career highs of 11 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss at Maine; he was also credited with two QB hurries that game. Ruiz finished with a career-high three sacks at Towson. In the NCAA second round at Holy Cross, he had five tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. He recorded multiple tackles all 13 games, including seven with 5+ tackles, and had a sack in 8 of 13 games.

Silver is another 2022 New England Football Writers All-New England Team selection also named to the CAA All-Conference First Team as a defensive lineman. He was No. 17 in the national rankings in tackles for loss and 12th in blocked kicks. On the CAA leaderboard, Silver was sixth in tackles for loss per game and fifth in sacks per game.
Silver led UNH with 17.5 tackles for loss and ranked second in sacks, as well as third in tackles and tied for third in quarterback hurries. He blocked two punts, one of which was returned for a touchdown and the other resulted in a safety. Silver had 10 games with 4+ tackles and recorded at least one tackle for loss in 11 of 13 games.
Silver's season highlights included a season-high 3.5 tackles for loss vs. Stony Brook and 3.0 tackles for loss at nationally-ranked Richmond. He made a season-high seven tackles in the NCAA first round vs. Fordham and forced a fumble on the opening possession of the game. Silver went on to record six tackles, a fumble recovery, QB hurry and blocked punt in the second round at Holy Cross.

In the 2022 season, New Hampshire won a share of the CAA title with a 7-1 conference record and advanced to the NCAA second round to highlight a highly-successful season that ended with a 9-4 overall record and No. 13/15 national ranking.
