Eight 'Cats Named to NFHCA National Academic Squad

GENEVA, N.Y. – A total of eight student-athletes on the University of New Hampshire field hockey team were named to the 2022 National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad on Thursday.
The National Academic Squad program, sponsored by OPA Winning Teams, honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher through the first semester of the 2022-23 academic year. Nine hundred sixty-five student-athletes from 77 Division I institutions earned recognition this year.
Senior back Molly McAteer (Annapolis, Md.) is a third-time honoree of the National Academic Squad.
Juniors Reagan Calcari (St. Louis, Mo.), Gigi Fay (Lancaster, Mass.), Lindsay Lee (Eindhoven, Netherlands) and Olivia Watson (Easton, Pa.) were named to the National Academic Squad for the third time in as many years.
Freshmen Brecken Calcari (St. Louis, Mo.), Madilynn Clark (Evanston, Ill.) and Nicole Poulakis (Ajax, Ontario) all made the National Academic Squad for the first time.
Three NFHCA Division I academic awards remain to be announced. The Scholars of Distinction is Feb. 16, followed by the National Academic Team Awards on Feb. 21 and the National Scholar-Athlete on Feb. 22.
New Hampshire finished the 2022 season with 10 wins and a trip to the America East semifinals. The Wildcats boast the 2022 America East Rookie of the Year, who was also the only freshman named to the All-Conference First Team and was joined on the All-Rookie Team by two other 'Cats.
