"We are really excited about this year's team and we hope that this demanding schedule will benefit us when we hit an ever-increasingly difficult conference slate of games," Welham said.
The 2022 season opens with a road trip to the Empire State as the Wildcats play Syracuse University, a Power 5 conference school out of the ACC, on Aug. 18. In last year's inaugural meeting between the programs, the Orange prevailed 2-0 at Wildcat Stadium.
UNH hops on the New York State Thruway to get to an Aug. 21 matchup against St. Francis Brooklyn College. These teams played to a scoreless tie in Durham last season.
New Hampshire plays its 2022 home opener against Siena College (Loudonville, N.Y.) on Aug. 25. Last year, the Wildcats were 1-0 victors against the then-defending MAAC champions. UNH then plays host to Central Connecticut State University, a program that has won four consecutive Northeast Conference tourney titles, on Aug. 28.
September begins and the three-game homestand ends Sept. 2 against CAA runner-up Northeastern University. The Wildcats close the non-conference portion of the schedule the following weekend at Merrimack College (Sept. 8) – UNH has won all four lifetime meetings – and against Patriot League runner-up Boston University (Sept. 11); last year's matchup in Boston was the first meeting vs. BU since 2012.
America East conference play opens Sept. 18 against UAlbany at Wildcat Stadium and continues Sept. 25 at NJIT, a team UNH eliminated from last year's conference quarterfinals via a penalty kick shootout.
The Wildcats return home for a Border Battle against the University of Maine on Sept. 29. Following an open week, UNH returns to action Oct. 9 at Binghamton University.
UNH welcomes conference newcomer Bryant University to Wildcat Stadium on Oct. 13. The University of Vermont, which edged New Hampshire 1-0 in the America East championship game on a goal in the 80th minute, comes to Durham for an Oct. 16 matchup.
The 'Cats close out the regular season with two road games: Oct. 23 at UMBC and Oct. 27 at UMass Lowell, a team that UNH edged 8-7 in a penalty kick shootout in last year's conference semifinal.
The America East Championships begins Oct. 30 with the quarterfinals, continues Nov. 3 with the semifinals and ends Nov. 6 with the title match.
