'Cats Fall to Harvard, 2-0 in First Round of NCAA Tournament

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team fell to Harvard, 2-0 Saturday evening at Jordan Field in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Wildcats conclude their season 9-6-3 (6-1-2 AE), while Harvard advances to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and improves to 12-1-3 (5-0-2 Ivy League).
FIRST HALF:
· Jordan Di Verniero opened the scoring for Harvard in the 9th minute. Aslaug Gunnlaugsdottir serviced a corner kick to a waiting Di Verniero in front of the net who was able to find the back of the net.
· Hannah Griffin rushed to collect a loose ball and sent it to the front of the net. Hollyn Torres claimed the ball and sent a shot to the top right corner of the goal to give Harvard a 2-0 lead in the 34th minute.
SECOND HALF:
· The second half went scoreless as grad student goalkeeper Cat Sheppard (Nesconset, N.Y.) had two saves.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
· UNH took one corner kick compared to Harvard's 12.
· The Crimson outshot the Wildcats 9-1.
· Cat Sheppard had seven saves while Anna Karpenko had one.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
