KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team received the United Soccer Coaches Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Bronze Award for the 2020-21 season.
The award recognizes teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards shown by referees throughout the season based on the number of cards accumulated divided by the number of games played.
New Hampshire is one of 16 college teams in the nation, regardless of division or gender, to earn the Bronze award and is one of 34 teams overall to be honored with any level of award – platinum, gold, silver or bronze.
With three yellow cards issued in seven games, UNH calculated to 42.8 percent; Bronze is presented to teams that accumulated a percentage of cards ranging from 31-50 percent.
This is the second consecutive season and third time in program history UNH receives a United Soccer Coaches Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award; the Wildcats received a Silver Award the previous two times.
New Hampshire qualified for the Spring 2021 America East semifinals, started the season 4-0-0 for the first time in program history, and had a perfect 5-0-0 home record. The Wildcats have made the semifinals four of the last five seasons.
