Alex Gagne Selected by Tampa Bay in NHL Draft

Gagne picked in the sixth round.
SEACAUCUS, N.J. - University of New Hampshire freshman defenseman Alex Gagne (Bedford, N.H.) was selected in the sixth round by the Tampa Bay Lightning with the 192nd overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft on Saturday.
UNH has now had 96 players selected in the NHL Draft in program history.
Gagne, who is participating in the World Junior Summer Showcase from July 24-31, will be entering his freshman season this fall.
Gagne played the 2020-21 season for the Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL) as he posted three goals and 23 assists for 26 points over 53 games, while he set the franchise record of a plus 35 plus-minus rating and was a 2021 USHL All-Third Team Selection. Gagne was a member of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (USHL) for the 2019-20 season as he recorded two goals and six assists for eight points over 38 games.
He skated on the 2019 U.S. Under-18 Men's Select Team at the 2019 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Piešťany, Slovakia and Břeclav, Czech Republic. Gagne was a member of the New Hampshire Avalanche from 2016-19 and graduated from Bedford High School in 2020.
