Wildcats Start Season With 2-1 OT Win at UMass Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. – Sophomore midfielder Rory O'Driscoll (Minneapolis, Minn.) scored the overtime game-winning goal in Friday afternoon's season opener to give the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team a 2-1 victory over UMass Lowell at the Cushing Field in America East action.
Senior back Victor Menudier (Limoges, France) scored his first UNH goal giving the Wildcats a 1-0 lead in the second half. O'Driscoll assisted on Menudier's goal to total three points on the day. Graduate student goalkeeper Alejandro Robles (Monterey, Mexico) made three saves to earn the win.
The Wildcats kick off the season 1-0-0 overall (1-0-0 AE), while the River Hawks start 0-1-0 (0-1-0 AE).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first half went scoreless as the Wildcats took three shots on goal and the River Hawks posted two.
- Menudier scored the first goal of the season for the Wildcats and the first of his UNH career in the 66th minute (65:30) for the 1-0 lead. O'Driscoll put Menudier on a breakaway as he then sent the ball to the back of the net. WATCH GOAL
- With just 1:07 remaining in the second half, the River Hawks tied the game at 1-1 on a goal by Daniel Orrego.
- In the 96th minute (95:04) O'Driscoll gave the Wildcats the season-opening win when he knocked in a one-timer off a pass by senior Jacob Gould (Exeter, N.H.) from six yards out in overtime. WATCH GOAL
