MOSCOW – University of New Hampshire women's soccer alumnae Kaylan Williams '20 recently signed a contract extension with WFC Lokomotiv Moscow through December 21, 2022.
Williams joined the team in March 2021 and helped Lokomotiv win the Super Cup, Russian Cup, and the Super League national championship. She was one of eight attackers, as well as one of just two international players, on last year's roster.
"Russia has been another unique experience to add to the list," said Williams, who played with WFC Ramat Hasharon in Israel prior to signing with Lokomotiv. "Entirely brand new culture, mindset, weather. It was a lot to initially adapt to, but I'm super excited to have extended my contract another season!
"This past season we won the Super Cup, Russian Cup, and the Super league. Absolutely everything," she added. "It was such an amazing feeling to truly see all the hard work pay off. I'm most looking forward to seeing my adaptation flourish this next season as I feel more confident, fit, and comfortable enough with the language. Excited to go for a 2-peat!"
WFC Lokomotiv Moscow is a Russian women's association football club based in Moscow that participates in the Russian Women's Football Championship, the top division of women's football, and is affiliated with Lokomotiv Moscow.
During her time with the UNH Wildcats, Williams was a two-time member of the America East Honor Roll, was named to the America East All-Conference Second Team in 2017 and was named to the 2019 America East All-Championship Team. The forward recorded 15 career goals including six from the 2019 season, which ranked second on the team. Williams led the team in assists, shots and shots on goal as a senior. She played all 18 games in '19 with 17 starts.
All four UNH women's soccer pro contract signees have been in the past five years – since head coach Steve Welham took the helm. In addition to Williams, both Brooke Murphy '18 and Kendra Prince '18 signed to play in Sweden, and Caroline Murray '16 played professionally in Finland, Iceland and Sweden. Murray signed another contract with a Sweden-based team this past February.
