Wildcats End SBU's 11-Match Home Winning Streak
STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Senior captain Francesca Picicci (North Massapequa, N.Y.) scored two goals and assisted on another to propel the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team to Sunday afternoon's 3-0 victory against Stony Brook University at LaValle Stadium.
Picicci scored the first goal of the game in the 18th minute and struck again in the 49th minute, then set up UNH's third goal of the game – scored by freshman Meghan Guarente (Sewell, N.J.) one minute later.
Senior goalkeeper and captain Cat Sheppard (Nesconset, N.Y.) made four saves to record her fourth shutout of the season and 12th of her career.
SBU goalie Emerson Richmond Burke was credited with six saves.
UNH improved to 3-6-2 overall and 1-2-1 in America East by ending Stony Brook's 11-match home win streak. The Seawolves are now 5-6-1, 2-2-0.

FIRST HALF
- Guarente tested Richmond Burke in the seventh minute and again in the 15th minute, but the Seawolves' goalie stopped both shots.
- Picicci's first goal, which proved to be the game-winning tally, at 17:56 was set up by sophomores Anna Hewlett (Webster, N.Y.) and Emily Bini (Guilderland, N.Y.).
- Sheppard made her first save in the 22nd minute when she denied Chelsie DePointe.
- Sheppard kept SBU scoreless with another save in the 35th minute, this time by turning away Tatuj Kauka's shot.
- Junior Shayna Salis (Bedford, N.H.) put a shot on frame in the 37th minute that was stopped by Richmond Burke.
SECOND HALF
- Picicci and Guarente scored on consecutive shots 71 seconds apart – at 48:26 and 49:37, respectively – to quickly expand a one-goal lead into a three-goal advantage. And both recorded an assist on the other's goal
- Sheppard preserved the 3-0 cushion with a save in the 62nd minute.
- Stony Brook generated a corner kick in the 65th minute and Gabby Daniels sent a shot to the upper-right of the goal, but Sheppard made the save.
- Freshman Abbie Burgess (Killingly, Conn.) was turned away by Richmond Burke in the 81st minute.
- The Seawolves sent a shot out wide of the cage in the 88th minute and another in the 89th minute.
GAME NOTEBOOK
- Stony Brook finished with a 13-10 shot advantage, but the Wildcats had a 9-4 edge in shots on goal.
- The Seawolves had the only three corner kicks.
- Guarente recorded a game-high four shots, all of which were on goal.
- Picicci's two goals came on two shots.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Picicci recorded her first career multiple-goal game and her five points also marked a personal best.
- Picicci leads the team in both goals (three) and points (seven).
- Guarente matched her career high of three points established in the season opener vs. Merrimack College.
- Bini, Hewlett and Guarente are tied for the team lead in assists with two; sophomore Alivia Kelly (Pembroke, Mass.) also has two assists this season.
- This was UNH's first road win at Stony Brook since the 2005 season (seven consecutive SBU home wins between Wildcat road wins).
