The senior forward is awarded one of UNH kinesiology’s highest honor
DURHAM, N.H. – University of New Hampshire women's soccer senior forward Ally Reynolds (Weymouth, Mass.) has been awarded the UNH Kinesiology Department's Barbara King Newman Memorial Scholarship award for her dedication to her studies, professional development, and her engagement in the University and the community.
The Newman scholarship is awarded to a Kinesiology undergraduate that possesses athletic ability and strong leadership potential, and is described as the type of person you'd want as a friend or teammate.
Reynolds, who is finishing her undergraduate Kinesiology degree this spring, led the way for the Wildcats in the scoring column in 2019 with 22 points and nine goals, five of which counted as game-winners. She also assisted on four goals on the season, including the opening goal of UNH's 3-2 home playoff victory over Binghamton. In her two seasons with UNH after transferring from Rhode Island, Reynolds tallied 31 points on 13 goals and five assists.
Reynolds is just the third ever UNH women's soccer player to receive the honor; the past two winners have come in the last three years, with former UNH goalkeeper Mimi Borkan '17 claiming the honor after her senior season.
The Barbara King Newman Memorial Scholarship has been in existence since 1970; it was created and named in the memory of Barbara King Newman, a past faculty member of the Department of Kinesiology who dedicated her life to physical education, particularly that of childhood physical education.
