Stefanelli & Schulz Win Student-Athlete Spotlight Honors

DURHAM, N.H.- Senior Allison Stefanelli (Loudonville, N.Y.) from the UNH women's swimming and diving team and freshman Scott Schulz (Lake Placid, N.Y.) on the men's ski team are the Service Credit Union Student-Athlete Spotlight award recipients for the week of Feb 17-23.
Allison was named the Most Outstanding Diver at the 2020 America East Championships, which were held Feb 13-16 at WPI. She swept the diving events winning her third straight three-meter title and her first career one-meter championship. The four-time America East champion earned All-Conference accolades five times during her outstanding career.
It is her first career one-meter diving championship with a score of 233.55. Allison who took top honors in Thursday's 1-meter dive, accrued 264.40 points to outdistance herself from the runner-up by 38.7 points; in comparison, the point differential from second to seventh place was 37.55 points.
Allison's two individual titles helped the UNH women's swimming and diving team capture their 8th America East Championship.

Scott placed 10th in the men's Nordic 10K classic with 33 points (25:07.) at the Williams Carnival, which was held Feb 14-15 in Lake Placid, N.Y. at Mount Van Hoevenberg. He also placed 2nd in the 3x5k relay with teammates Bryce Hartman (Saranac Lake, N.Y.) and Will Bodewes (Durango, Colo.) His placements helped UNH total 723 points to finish in fourth place behind Middlebury (855), Vermont (843) and Dartmouth (752).
He placed 5th place the week before at the Bates Carnival for men's freestyle 10k with 39 points (23:37.4) helping the 'Cats score a season high of 698 points. Scott took 4th in the men's 10k freestyle skate at the Colby Carnival at the beginning of the month. Overall, Scott has a had a strong month of February.
The men's and women's ski teams are back in action at the EISA Championships. The alpine squad will race at the Snow Bowl and the Nordic squad will race at the Rikert Nordic Center.
