Holy Cross, UConn, and the Toronto Blizzard highlight spring exhibitions.
DURHAM, N.H.- University of New Hampshire women's soccer head coach Steve Welham announced the opponents for the teams upcoming 2019 spring schedule, beginning on March 30.
The Wildcats will open the spring schedule with a matchup at Bremner Field against Division-II power, Southern New Hampshire University. The Penmen went 14-4-3 last season and consistently make deep runs in the Northeast-10 conference championships and also competed in the NCAA Division II Tournament this past season.
New Hampshire continues their exhibitions with a matchup on the road against Harvard who finished 4-2-1 in Ivy League play during 2018. That game will take place on April 5 (7 PM). The last time these teams met was in the regular season of 2016, when the Wildcats lost 2-1 after the Crimson broke a 1-1 tie in the 72nd minute.
UNH returns home on April 7 (2 PM) to take on Patriot League foe Holy Cross at Wildcat Stadium. The Wildcats defeated the Crusaders in a double-overtime thriller this past season which ended on a goal in the 101st minute to give the 'Cats a 2-1 victory.
The next game for the Wildcats will be on April 14 (2 PM) at Wildcat Stadium against the University of Connecticut. The two teams last met in an exhibition this past season and also back in 2014 during the NCAA Tournament First Round…UNH fell to UConn 2-0.
The Wildcats will conclude their spring schedule against the Toronto Blizzard on April 27 (3:45 PM) at Bremner Field. The Toronto Blizzard are past U-23 Ontario Cup Champions. The 'Cats will look to have another successful spring when the snow begins to melt in March.
The UNH women's soccer team has made it to the America East playoffs in five consecutive seasons, and last won the post season championship in 2014 and regular season championship in 2017. The Wildcats return with their leading goal-scorer and leader in points, Ally Reynolds, to help them contend for their sixth straight America East playoff berth where they look to make a run deep into post season for 2019. Also returning for the Wildcats are Kaylan Williams (Marion, Ind.), Sofia Borea (Oakville, Ontario), Megan Rumbold (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and Maddie Murdick (Burlington, Conn.), who all started in every game for the Wildcats this past season.
