The Wildcats earned Region Staff of the Year for the second time in the last three years.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of New Hampshire men's soccer staff has been named the NCAA Division I Northeast Region Staff of the Year as announced by United Soccer Coaches. The staff will be recognized at the College Coaches Awards Reception on Thursday Jan. 16, 2020 at the United Soccer Coaches Convention in Baltimore. UNH will now be placed on the United Soccer Coaches ballot for National Staff of the Year. In 2017, the Wildcats also won the Region Staff of the Year Award.
The Wildcats were led by head coach Marc Hubbard, associate head coach Rich Weinrebe, assistant coach Nick Thompson, goalkeeper coach Dave Williams and director of soccer operations Brad Campion. The staff also was named the 2019 America East Staff of the Year for the second time in three seasons as they also won in 2017.
The Wildcats concluded the season with a 15-2-3 (.825) record, posting the best winning percentage in program history and tying the school record for wins. The Wildcats won the America East Co-Regular Season championship, earning the title for only the second time in program history. Then UNH captured its second straight America East Tournament championship, qualifying for the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season. The 1-0 win over Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round was the second time in the last three years the Wildcats have won a NCAA Tournament game.
The Wildcats only allowed 11 goals all season outscoring their opposition, 39-11. UNH's 0.528 team goals against average is ranked third in the nation. UNH was ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Poll every week except the first week reaching a season-best No. 13 ranking.
Coach Hubbard has posted a 62-22-13 record over his five seasons as head coach at UNH. The Wildcats have recorded five straight 10 or more win seasons each of his first five years at the helm which is the first time that has been done in program history. He has also brought the school its first two America East Tournament championships (2018 and 2019) and three straight NCAA Tournament appearances (2017, 2018 and 2019).
