New Hampshire tied for most selections.
DURHAM, N.H. – Four members of the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team were selected to the 2019 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl, an all-star game featuring seniors from New England colleges.
On the defensive end, seniors Megan Rumbold (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and Caitlyn Keenan (Bow, N.H.) were two of the six backs selected in the region to participate in the senior bowl from Division I colleges. Both players brought a strong defensive style to the UNH roster, a team that allowed only 18 goals in the 2019 season, tied for the second lowest amount in the America East conference. Both defenders also bring an offensive element to their game; Rumbold has a proven long-range set piece ability, with three career goals off a long set piece that either tied the game late or acted as the game-winning goal, while Keenan has the ability to push forward into attacking situations on those set pieces. Keenan tallied a score in her final two seasons with UNH, while Rumbold tallied three in her final three, along with three assists this season.
Offensively the Wildcats will be represented by seniors Ally Reynolds (Weymouth, Mass.) and Kaylan Williams (Marion, Ind.), the two leading goal-scorers for UNH this season. The two-headed striker attack of Reynolds and Williams accounted for 58% of the team's goals (15-28) and 49% of the team's point production (40 out of 81) in the 2019 season. Reynolds led the way with a team-high nine goals, and four assists for 22 points. Five of her goals clinched victory for the Wildcats this season. Williams followed closely behind with six goals, six assists for 18 points on the season. She tallied two of her goals in the America East Tournament, including the game-tying goal against Stony Brook in the semifinals just seconds after the opening Seawolves goal.
New Hampshire's four selections to the 2019 NEWISA Senior Bowl was tied for the most among the New England schools; they were tied with Central Connecticut State, which also had four selections. Other schools with selections included Boston College, Brown, Bryant, UConn, Hartford, Holy Cross, Providence URI, Vermont, and Yale.
The 2019 NEWISA Senior Bowl is slated for next weekend, Saturday December 7, on the campus of Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass.
