BURLINGTON, Vt. – Bailey Fanikos (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Tia Raspante (Sandwich, Mass.) scored first-half goals to propel the University of New Hampshire field hockey team to Friday afternoon's 2-1 victory against the Unviersity of Vermont at Moulton Winder Field.

UNH goalkeeper Jemma Woods (Frimley, England) was not credited with a save. UVM's Sierra Espeland stopped seven shots, including six in the first half.

UNH improved to .500 overall (8-8) and in America East (2-2) while UVM fell to 5-9, 1-3.

1^st QUARTER

UNH recorded a 4-0 shot advantage and scored the only goal in the opening 15 minutes.
Fanikos scored on the game's first shot at 7:53. Ava Mariani (Easton, Pa.) set up the tally.
With 30 seconds on the clock, van den Brekel's shot from deep on the right wing was stopped by Espeland.
The Wildcats sustained pressure and Sliz's shot on goal led to a penalty corner, and that generated another shot by Sliz from the top-left side that ricocheted off the near post.

2^nd QUARTER

In the 20^th minute, a rising shot off a reverse stick by Bloem van den Brekel (Eindhoven, Netherlands) from the top-left side was knocked down by Espeland's blocker.
Two minutes later on a UNH corner, the UVM goalie stopped van den Brekel's initial shot from the top of the circle. Isabelle Danahy (Chelmsford, Mass.) collected the rebound in the middle of the circle and swept the ball wide right of the cage.
Raspante extended the advantage to 2-0 at 25:31. On a broken play from a corner, Emily Eckels (Arnold, Md.) gathered the ball outside the top of the circle and slipped a pass low to the right side. Raspante then lifted a shot inside the near post.
New Hampshire entered halftime with a 12-0 shot advantage and 4-0 edge in corners.

3^rd QUARTER

The Wildcats had a 2-0 shot advantage in a scoreless third quarter.

4^th QUARTER

UVM trimmed the deficit to 2-1 when the Catamounts converted a corner into a goal at 50:12. Claudia Cotter inserted the ball for Peppe Haanjes, the stick-stop. Sydney Melfi then pushed the ball to the left side, where Clodagh Ferry fired a low shot through traffic inside the left post.
Neither team recorded a shot the final 9:48 of regulation.
UVM pulled Espelande in favor of an extra field player for the final 2:21.
