WHAT TO KNOW...
UNH TO PLAY QUINNIPIAC:
The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team, which has won three straight games, will take on Quinnipiac on Friday, Sept. 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium. Last year, the Wildcats defeated the Bobcats by a 1-0 score in Hamden, Conn.
THE MATCH UP:
UNH is 3-1-0 this season, while Quinnipiac is 0-2-1. The Wildcats fell to No. 15 Virginia on Aug. 24, 1-0, while junior Donnett Sackie (Monrovia, Liberia) scored the game winning goal during overtime in the 1-0 victory versus Fairfield for the Wildcats' first win of the season in a rematch of last year's first round NCAA Tournament contest on Aug. 27. Then on Aug. 31, UNH defeated LIU Brooklyn, 3-2, as freshman Chris Pinkham (Concord, N.H.) scored the game winner with his first collegiate goal, while junior Antonio Colacci (Bradenton, Fla.) scored two goals as UNH defeated Northeastern, 2-1, on Sept. 3. The Bobcats fell to Boston College (2-1), tied UMass Lowell (1-1) and lost to St. Joseph's (4-2). UNH nets 1.50 goals per game and allows 1.00, while Quinnipiac scores 1.33 goals per contest and allows 2.33.
COLACCI LEADING UNH:
Junior Antonio Colacci (Bradenton, Fla.) leads the team with three goals and one assist for seven points. He scored both goals versus Northeastern including his first career game winner. For his career he has four goals and five assists for 13 points.
PINKHAM NAMED ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Red-shirt freshman Chris Pinkham (Concord, N.H.) was named the America East Rookie of the Week for scoring the game-winning goal in the 3-2 win versus LIU Brooklyn at Wildcat Stadium on Aug. 31. This was his first career America East Weekly Award. With the game tied at 2-2, Pinkham scored with just 12:34 left in the second half to give the Wildcats the victory. The goal was the first of his collegiate career.
UP NEXT:
The Wildcats return to action Wednesday, Sept. 12, when they take on Iona at 7:00 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
UNDEFEATED AT WILDCAT STADIUM:
The Wildcats are 2-0-0 this season at home and are 12-0-3 at Wildcat Stadium over the last 15 games. UNH has outscored its opponents at home by a 28-7 margin over this span. Last year, UNH went 10-0-3 at Wildcat Stadium. UNH was just one of nine teams out of 205 to go undefeated at home.
