BROOKLINE, Mass. - Junior Antonio Colacci (Bradenton, Fla.) scored both goals for UNH including the game winner to break a 1-1 tie with just 3:59 remaining in the second half as the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team defeated Northeastern, 2-1, at Parsons Field. The Wildcats have won three straight games and improve to 3-1-0, while the Huskies fall to 1-3-0.

The Wildcats return to action Friday, Sept. 7 at 7:00 p.m., when they take on Quinnipiac at Wildcat Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute (8:34) when Colacci fired a shot from 25 yards out that deflected off a Northeastern defender and went to the back of the net. Senior Jacob Mannix (Longmeadow, Mass.) posted his first collegiate assist on the goal.
In the 40th minute, Colacci sent a free kick towards the upper right corner of the net but Noah Abrams was able to knock it away.
At 42:45, senior Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) sent a one-timer from six yards out but Abrams was able to keep it out of the net.
Then with just 30 seconds remaining in the half, graduate student Lars Huxsohl (Hamburg, Germany) made his first save of the game off a shot by Dan Munch to keep the contest at 1-0.
UNH outshot Northeastern, 8-4, in the first half, while the Wildcats took four shots on goal and the Huskies posted one.
The Huskies tied the game at 1-1 in the 67th minute (66:43) when Adama Kaba sent a pass from the right side to Ryan Massoud who headed the ball to the lower left corner of the goal from five yards out.
In the 72nd minute, Harry Swartz blasted a shot from 15 yards out that Huxsohl was able to tip over the net to keep the game tied at 1-1.
Senior Alex Valencia (Tracy, Calif.) attempted to give the Wildcats the lead when he sent a header from 12 yards out from a pass by Juan Velazquez, but Abrams made a diving save.
Then in the 87th minute (86:01), junior Jack Doherty (Meriden, N.H.) sent a pass from the left side to Colacci who buried the ball to the back of the net from 10 yards out for the game winner.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Huxsohl made two saves, while Abrams posted five.
UNH outshot Northeastern, 16-14, while the Wildcats took seven shots on goal and the Huskies tallied three.
UNH had six corner kicks, while Northeastern took three.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

Colacci now has three goals this season and four for his career. He leads the team with seven points, on three goals and one assist. His game winner was the first of his career.
Mannix tallied his first collegiate point with an assist.
UNH leads the all-time series versus Northeastern, 21-7-1, and have won four straight in the series.
