UNH ends the weekend 1-1-0 in the Sun Devil Desert Classic.

TEMPE, Ariz. – After defeating Pac-12 foe Arizona State on Friday evening, the University of New Hampshire fell to ASU's rival, Arizona, by a final score of 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The UNH Wildcats were outshot 5-2 in shots on goal and were shutout for the third time this season, bringing their overall record to 3-3-0.

The Arizona Wildcats ended the weekend 2-0-0 in the Sun Devil Desert Classic, UNH ended 1-1-0.

New Hampshire goalkeeper Mia Neas (Old Saybrook, Conn.) once again directed traffic in front of the net and stopped several key Arizona attacks, keeping New Hampshire in contention until the final whistle. Neas made three saves in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Arizona notched the first tally just 4:36 into the game as a long ball found its way past the New Hampshire back line, and Arizona was able to convert on the one-on-one opportunity.
Another long ball entered the New Hampshire box in the 17^th minute but Mia Neas leapt into the air between three players and snagged it, preventing an Arizona scoring chance.
Arizona struck again in the 29^th minute on a long shot from outside the box just tucked inside the left side post. Arizona would hold on to lead 2-0 at the half.
New Hampshire tried to answer back in the second with their first corner kick opportunity of the game in the 55^th minute. A low corner was swept away by Arizona.
Megan Rumbold (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had another opportunity for some offense as she took a free kick from about 35 yards out in the 77^th minute, but the ball was collected by Arizona's keeper.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Arizona was whistled for offsides five times in the match.
Arizona had five corner kicks in the contest to UNH's one.
A total of just seven fouls were called in the game.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

UNH held Arizona to just two goals in the contest; in Arizona's last two wins they had tallied five and six goals against Southeast Missouri and Houston Baptist, respectively.
New Hampshire is now 1-2-0 in games played on Sundays.
This weekend was the first-ever meeting of New Hampshire and Arizona/Arizona State.
Megan Rumbold now leads the team in total shots on goal with eight on the season.
