UNH TO TAKE ON VERMONT FOR FIRST ROUND BYE:

The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team (9-3-2, 3-2-1 AE) returns to action when it concludes the regular season at Vermont (11-6-0, 4-2-0) on Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 7:00 p.m. The two teams, who have already clinched a spot in the six-team America East Tournament, will be playing for a first round bye to the semifinals of the America East Tournament. Vermont leads the all-time series, 36-17-7. Last year, these two teams tied 1-1 on Nov. 1 at Wildcat Stadium. UNH is 2-2-1 over the last five games versus the Catamounts.
THE MATCH UP:
UNH is 9-3-2 overall this season and 3-2-1 in America East, while the Catamounts are 11-6-0 and 4-2-0 in America East. UNH nets 1.21 goals per game and allows 0.64, while the Catamounts score 1.88 goals per contest and allow 1.06.
STRONG DEFENSE:
UNH is ranked 11th in the nation with a 0.617 team goals against average. The Wildcats are also ranked first in America East.
WILDCATS CLINCH AE TOURNAMENT BID:
With the win against UMass Lowell last week, the Wildcats clinched a spot in the AE Tournament. With one regular season game left to be played, Stony Brook is first (15 points), while Vermont is second (12 points). UNH (10 points) is third, while UMBC (9 points) and UMass Lowell (9 points) are tied for fourth. Albany and Binghamton are tied for sixth with six points, Hartford is eighth with four points. The top six teams make the America East Tournament with the top two earning a first round bye. The Wildcats can finish anywhere from second to fifth place, with a victory versus Vermont they will receive a bye.
UNDEFEATED AT WILDCAT STADIUM:
The Wildcats are 8-0-0 this season at home and are 18-0-3 all-time at Wildcat Stadium. UNH has outscored its opponents at home by a 37-8 margin over the 21 games played at the stadium.
UNH DEFEATS UMASS LOWELL:
