BOSTON – The 2018 America East women's soccer year-end awards were handed out on Tuesday afternoon, with two representatives for New Hampshire being named in the mix.
Junior defender Megan Rumbold (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and graduate student goalkeeper Mia Neas (Old Saybrook, Conn.) were named to the America East All-Conference Second Team for their efforts in the Wildcats' 2018 campaign.
Rumbold, a free-kick threat and shutdown defender, tallied a goal in the 2018 campaign that forced overtime with Northeastern back in September. Rumbold was also the Wildcats' leader in shot-on-goal percentage; 58% of her shots were on target, most coming on long set pieces that threatened the goalkeeper. The all-conference honor is Rumbold's first of her career.
Neas followed up her impressive debut season with the second-highest save percentage in the conference in the regular season, making 90 saves for a .783 save%. With a 7-8-2 record and four shutouts on the season, Neas put her career record in net to 18-14-3 and 10 career shutouts.
Along with her Second Team honor, Neas, who was an academic All-American last season, returns to the America East All-Academic team with a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.88. Neas was the only UNH representative on the All-Academic team this season.
Earlier this week, Mia Neas was also named the America East Fan's Choice Player of the Year, voted by the fans of America East women's soccer, beating out the other eight candidates from the other America East teams.
Rumbold, Neas, and the Wildcats travel to Albany, N.Y. for the America East quarterfinals, taking on the Great Danes on Thursday evening at 7 P.M.
