#24 Wildcats Improve To 4-0 With 3-0 Win Over UMass

DURHAM, N.H. – Andrew Pesci (Windham, N.H.) posted his fourth straight shutout and the Wildcats had three different goal scorers as the No. 24 University of New Hampshire men's soccer team defeated UMass, 3-0, on Tuesday night at Wildcat Stadium. With the win, the Wildcats improve to 4-0-0 on the season and have not allowed a goal through their first four games.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the fourth minute (3:28), UNH scored the first goal of the game when freshman Linus Fallberg (Jonkoping, Sweden) fired a shot to the lower left corner of the net from 10 yards out. Junior Otto Sahlen (Gothenburg, Sweden) posted an assist on the goal.
- Pesci was outstanding in net with four first-half saves to keep the Minutemen off the scoreboard.
- In the 72nd minute, Wildcats had a scoring opportunity as freshman Conrad Cheng (Oslo, Norway) blasted a shot from eight yards out but Bardia Asefnia made a diving save to keep the game at 1-0.
- In the 84th minute (84:00), senior Will Rasid (Wilbraham, Mass.) fired a one-timer to the back of the net from 20 yards out. Sahlen posted his second assist of the night.
- Junior Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) increased the Wildcats' lead to 3-0 in the 88th minute (87:42) when he sent a shot to the right side of the net from 10 yards out for his second goal of the season with an assist by sophomore Antonio Colacci (Bradenton, Fla).
- Pesci made one save in the second half to keep the Minutemen off the scoreboard as the Wildcats secured a 3-0 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Pesci posted the shutout with five saves, while Asefnia made six saves for the Minutemen.
- New Hampshire took nine shots on goal while UMass posted five.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The Wildcats have not allowed a goal in the first three games of the season, including 1-0 wins over Colgate and Northeastern, and a 2-0 victory at No. 22 Boston College.
- The Wildcats are 5-0-1 versus UMass over the last six meetings.
- The goal for Rasid was the first of his collegiate career.
- Sahlen tallied his first two points as a Wildcat.
- Pesci posted his fourth straight shutout to start the season and it is his 11th of his career.
- Fallberg now has a team-leading three goals this season.
