Love, Lorden Grab TD Catches in Spring Game

DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore Malik Love (Alcoa, Tenn.) and redshirt freshman Nick Lorden (Milford, N.H.) each caught a touchdown pass to lead the University of New Hampshire offense in the Blue-White game in Wildcat Stadium on Saturday that wrapped up spring football for the Wildcats.
Lorden scored on a 7-yard strike from redshirt freshman Christian Lupoli (East Haven, Conn.) and Love collected his score on a 6-yard throw from sophomore Ivan Niyomugabo (Penacook, N.H.) Lupoli completed nine of his 13 passes for 96 yards. Niyomugabo completed five of his nine passes for 22 yards and had one pass intercepted.
The two scoring passes were the only TDs allowed by the UNH defense.
Junior starting quarterback Trevor Knight (Amherst, N.H.) completed eight of his 14 passes for 86 yards.

- The Wildcats open the 2017 season with a "Thursday Night Throwdown" game against rival Maine on Thursday, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. in Wildcat Stadium.

- Senior safety D'Andre Drummond Mayrie (Lawrence, Mass.) had the only turnover of the game with an interception.
- Sophomore Evan Gray led all rushers with 10 carries for 65 yards.
- Love had five catches for 30 yards.
- Junior Neil O'Connor (Leominster, Mass.) had four catches for 62 yards.
- Lorden had two catches for 30 yards.
- Junior wide receiver Michael Hershman (Mansfield, Mass.) had three catches for 31 yards.
- Sophomore safety Dean Adams (Medfield, Mass.) had 5.5 tackles.
- Redshirt freshman defensive end Brian Carter (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) had five tackles.
- Carter, redshirt freshman linebacker Steven Harper (Roselle, N.J.) and sophomore safety Michael Balsamo (Atkinson, N.H.) each had a quarterback sack.
- Senior Morgan Ellman (Scotch Plains, N.J.) kicked a 32-yard field goal.
- Redshirt freshman Mitch McPike (Birmingham, England) kicked a 34-yard field goal.
- Junior Hayden Middleton (Dover, N.H.) kicked a 29-yard field goal.
- Ellman kicked a pair of 42-yard field goals that were not part of play but ended the scrimmage.
WALKER AWARD
Senior safety Nick Marino (Hudson, N.H.) received the Todd Walker Teammate Award in a ceremony that included Walker's parents – Pam and Mark - Saturday morning and wore Walker's No. 80 during the game.
Walker was a Wildcat wide receiver who died heroically on March 18, 2011 in Boulder, Colo., when he stepped in front of gunman during an attempted robbery to save the life of a woman he was walking home.
Marino was recognized for his selflessness and dedication as the ideal teammate.
MOST IMPROVED
Following the game head coach Sean McDonnell handed out awards to the most improved players during the spring to:
