Leissner Breaks Free-Throw Made Record in 21-point Comeback over Binghamton, 63-55

VESTAL, N.Y. – Junior Tanner Leissner (Converse, Texas) finished with 27 points to erase a 21 point first-half deficit giving the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team (15-11, 6-6 AE) a 63-55 win over Binghamton University (12-15, 3-9 AE) Sunday afternoon at the Events Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bearcats stormed out to a 17-3 lead just over halfway through the first half. The Wildcats struggled to get quality shots up and had a few turnovers lead to Binghamton points. Binghamton continued its hot streak to lead by as much as 21 in the first, 29-8, with under nine minutes to play. New Hampshire started to get its rhythm closing the half strong. The Wildcats scored the next eight points to trails 29-16 with 6:23 to play. Seniors Jaleen Smith (Freeport, Texas), Daniel Dion (Cedar Park, Texas), Leissner and Camara each had two points before John Schurman of Binghamton entered the game and hit a straight-away three. UNH then scored 11 points to Binghamton's four in the final minutes to trail 36-27 at the break. Dion finished with five of the final 11 first-half points.
The Wildcats completed the comeback with 7:56 to play on a jumper by Smith in the paint to take the lead, 47-46, the first lead all game. Yosef Yacob for Binghamton retook the lead 30 seconds later before Smith drilled a 3-pointer at 6:38 to take a 50-48 lead for the final time. Smith's three jump started a 7-0 run which pushed the Wildcat lead to six with 4:58 to play. Leissner drilled a free throw with 1:03 left to break the all-time record in free-throws made previously held by Robin Dixon at 340. The junior hit his final nine attempts to seal the deal, including six in the final minute.
