Men’s Soccer Returns to Action at Northeastern on Tuesday (6 p.m.)

DURHAM, N.H. – The unbeaten University of New Hampshire men's soccer team is back in action Tuesday, Sept. 22 as the team travels to Northeastern University for a 6 p.m. tilt at Parsons Field. The 'Cats currently have a record of 5-0-1 while the Huskies sit at 0-3-2.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE: The Wildcats are coming off a 1-0 home win over the University of Massachusetts on Saturday, Sept. 19, a victory that took place on Bremner Field. Senior A.J. Albers (Eagan, Minn.) scored the game's only goal as he put a header into the back of the net in the 55th minute of play. Classmate Fazal Nabi (Portland, Maine) created the bid as he lobbed a cross into the box that found Albers in stride. Senior goalkeeper Ryan Carpenter (Newmarket, N.H.) made four saves on four shots faced to preserve the clean sheet for the Wildcats.
Junior co-captain Chris Wingate (Hovik, Norway) and senior Ben Ramin (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) lead the Wildcats with three goals and one assist for seven points apiece. Albers has four points on a pair of goals while Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.), Connor Pauley (Londonderry, N.H.) and Nabi each have the same total from a goal and two assists. Junior Karl Frisk (Molndal, Sweden) has three points on a goal and an assist. Rookie Alex Valencia (Tracy, Calif.) has one goal for two points while Lukas Goerigk (Berlin, Germany) has a pair of points from two assists. Duff Thomson (Newton, N.H.) has one point from an assist.
Carpenter has started all five games he has played and holds a record of 4-0-1. He has a goals against average of 0.96 and a save percentage of .643. Sophomore Andrew Pesci (Windham, N.H.) has made one start and has a record of 1-0-0.
SCOUTING NORTHEASTERN: The Huskies are coming off a 2-1 loss to Providence College on Saturday, Sept. 19 at home. Providence scored one goal in the first half and one in the second, but Northeastern pulled to within one with 10 seconds left in regulation. Khesanio Hall scored the goal for NU. Northeastern's keeper Jonathan Thuresson made five saves on seven shots faced in the match.
Hall and Frantzdy Pierrot lead NU's squad with a pair of points on a goal apiece. Marc Greenblatt and Chris Flores each have one point with an assist. Thuresson has started all three games he has played and holds a record of 0-2-1. He has a goals against average of 0.93 and a save percentage of .800. Dylan Faber has started the other two games for NU and has a record of 0-1-1, a goals against average of 1.80 and a save percentage of .556.
CLEAN SHEETS: The Wildcats have posted a total of three shutouts on the year, each of which have come in the last three games. Pesci shutout the University of North Carolina at Asheville (Sept. 13) while Carpenter blanked Central Connecticut State University (Sept. 11) and UMass (Sept. 19).
OFFENSIVE PRODUCTION: The Wildcats already have scored 13 goals on the year through six games. Last season, they scored just 12 goals through 17 matches.
ULTIMATE WARRIORS: Senior co-captain Andrew Chaput (Manchester, N.H.), Goerigk and Thomson have all played every minute of every game this season. In 2014, Chaput also played every minute of all 17 games.
