VESTAL, N.Y. – Senior midfielder Caroline Murray (New Canaan, Conn.) scored the only goal of the game in the first half to lead the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team past Binghamton University 1-0 in America East play Sunday afternoon from Bearcats Sports Complex.

The Wildcats improve to 5-8-2 on the year and to 2-2-2 in America East while the Bearcats fall to 5-9-2 overall and 1-3-2 in the conference play.

All of New Hampshire's wins this season have been shutouts.

Sophomore netminder Mimi Borkan (Medfield, Mass.) made two saves in 90 minutes of action in the win and earned her seventh clean sheet of the season (five wins and two ties).

Murray led the Wildcats offense with four shots, three of which were on target. Senior Meghan Ledwith (Yardley, Pa.) and freshman Brooke Murphy (Monson, Mass.) posted three shots each in the game.

Both of Binghamton's goalkeepers saw action in the net. Gaby Gold suffered the loss as she made four saves in 45 minutes of action and holds a mark 2-4-0. Katie Hatziyianis played 45 minutes as well stopping two shots in the game.

At 26:38, Murray tallied the first goal of the game and her first of the season to give the Wildcats a 1-0 edge. Binghamton was unsuccessful in clearing the ball as Murray was in perfect position to receive the ball off a deflection and her shot went into the back of the net 14 yards out. She has posted 39 shots on goal this season.

New Hampshire's first possession of the game resulted in two shots. Murray tallied the first shot of the game at 7:24 as the Bearcats Gold came up with the save. Ledwith posted the second shot of the game as it went high of the net.

New Hampshire out shot Binghamton 6-2 in the first half. BU's goalkeeper Gold made four saves while Borkan earned one save for UNH.

The Bearcats goalkeeper Katie Hatziyianis started the second half as she replaced Gaby Gold who started the game.

Three minutes into the second half, Murphy earned a corner kick for UNH. At the 49^th minute Ledwith took a shot of her but Hatziyianis was in position to make the save.

In the 85^th and 88^th minute Murphy earned four corner kicks for UNH in a three-minute span.

The Wildcats held their ground in the second half as they allowed the Bearcats to just two shots in the period to earn their fifth win of the season.

UNH posted 11 shots in the match while their opponent mustered four. UNH held a slight edge in corner kicks 8-6.

The Wildcats head to UMass Lowell on Thursday, Oct. 23 (7 p.m.) to play their final road game of the season and seventh conference match.
