Gym 'Cats Stay Unbeaten in EAGL Competition with Tri-Meet Win at GWU

Harvey, EAGL's No. 1 beam competitor, scored 9.850 to share first place
WASHINGTON – Junior captain McCall McMullen (Athens, Ga.) and junior Gwen Ockerbloom (Granby, Conn.) shared first place on vault, and sophomore Mady Harvey (Freeland, Mich.) earned a share of first on balance beam to power the UNH gymnastics team to Sunday afternoon's tri-meet victory against host George Washington and William & Mary at the Charles E. Smith Center.
The Wildcats scored a 194.650 to beat the Revolutionaries (193.400) and the Tribe (192.000) to up their season record to 10-2. The victory versus GWU improved UNH to 3-0 in the EAGL standings, giving the 'Cats a share of the league's regular-season title and the ability to win it outright with a victory against LIU on Friday, Feb. 20 at the Pratt Recreation Center in Brookville, N.Y.

The Wildcats opened the meet on uneven bars and won that event with a 48.825. Sophomore Peyton Novinger (Hershey, Pa.) led the way with a career-high-tying 9.825 for second place, followed by senior captain Leah Moreno (Cary, N.C.), who placed third with a 9.800. Senior Serena Mullin (Hamden, Conn.) claimed a share of fifth with a 9.750. GWU's Lola Montevago topped the podium with a 9.875.
In the second rotation, UNH solidified its No. 1 EAGL rank on beam with an event-winning 48.525. Harvey, the conference's No. 1-ranked beam competitor, totaled a 9.850 to share the top spot with GWU's Brooke Izzo. Ockerbloom scored a 9.750 for fourth place, while senior Riley Himes (Orlando, Fla.) registered a 9.725 for fifth.
McMullen and junior Poulina Minaev (Smithtown, N.Y.) paced the floor lineup with matching marks of 9.775, which shared fourth place with William & Mary's Ashley Ruedy. George Washington's Dean Sheremeta won floor with a 9.875, followed by her teammate Maya Peters and W&M's Hannah Burke, who shared second place (9.825).
The 'Cats closed the meet strong with a first-place showing on vault (48.800). McMullen tied her career high with a 9.825 to share first place with Ockerbloom, EAGL's top-ranked vault competitor, and Sheremeta. Freshman Amelia Lannon (Sutton, Mass.) contributed a 9.750 for a share of fifth place.
In her first career all-around performance, Ockerbloom finished third with a 38.975. Sheremeta won the all-around with a 39.175, followed by Montevago (39.075).
