The Wildcats improve to 6-1 on the season.

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. — The University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team rallied past Merrimack College (0-7, 0-0 Metro) on Tuesday evening (Sept. 8) at the Sakowich Center, winning 3-1. The set scores were 25-16, 16-25, 25-18, and 25-16.

HOW IT HAPPENED

SET 1
-The Wildcats opened the game on a 14-7 scoring run, paced by three kills from Rachel Grier (Dublin, Calif.), a pair of scores from Emma Converse (San Antonio, Texas) and Olivia Maulding (Canby, Ore.), and scores from Jessica Shattles (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) and Dylan Hunt (Pickerington, Ohio).

-New Hampshire continued to apply the pressure to close the first set, outscoring the Warriors 12-9 to take the frame 25-16.

SET 2
-Merrimack opened the second set with a 15-10 edge on the scoresheet. For the Wildcats, Converse registered a trio of kills while Grier and Evelyn Brenton (Glastonbury, Conn.) each earned one.

-The Warriors closed the set outscoring New Hampshire 10-6, taking it 25-16.

SET 3
-New Hampshire roared back to open the third, starting the frame with a 10-6 scoring edge, fueled by a pair of kills from Hunt and Varvara Zvereva (Korolev, Russia).

-The Wildcats held on to take the third set in a 25-18 fashion, with three kills apiece from Maulding and Grier pacing the 15-12 scoring run.

SET 4
-Following an early 8-8 deadlock, the Wildcats pulled out to a lead midway through the frame, posting a 7-2 run to make it 15-10. Dylan Hunt led the charge, scoring three kills while Maulding and Converse put up one each.

-UNH closed out on a 10-6 scoring run, winning the set 25-16 for their sixth win of the season.

BY THE NUMBERS
-Seven different players earned a kill in the win, paced by a 10-kill outing for Emma Converse, marking her sixth match this season with 10+ kills. Additionally, Converse led the team in digs, earning a career-high 14 in the win for her second-career double-double.

-Jessica Shattles headlined the team with 32 assists, her fifth performance this season with 25+ assists and fourth performance with 30+ assists.

-Dylan Hunt enjoyed a career day in the win, posting career-highs in kills (9), points (16), and service aces (6).

-At the net, seven players earned a block assist, led by Rachel Grier and Varvara Zvereva with 1.5 total blocks each.
