Six members of women's track & field compete at Raleigh Relays
RALEIGH, N.C. – Six members of the University of New Hampshire women's track and field squad competed at the Raleigh Relays held Friday, March 29, at the Paul Derr Track at North Carolina State in Raleigh, N.C. Keely Maguire (Georgetown, Mass.) highlighted the meet as she shattered the school record in the 5K, posting a time of 16:29.90.
Maguire topped the previous record of 16:39, set by Allison Letourneau at the Raleigh Relays in 2012.
Darcy James (Exeter, N.H.) claimed gold in her heat of the same event, crossing the line to a time of 17:18.65. Also posting a top-podium finish in her 100M heat was Lauren Perrodin (Coral Springs, Fla.), dashing her way to a time of 12.34. Her time put her 50th overall of 118 competitors.
Elise Beattie (Woodstock, Ill.) finished sixth in the grueling 10K, breaking the tape at 35:01.95. In the same heat, Cayla Pellegrini (Derry, N.H.) and Erin Phillips (Belmont, N.H.) finished consecutively with ECAC qualifying times. Pellegrini crossed the line at 36:51.54 as Phillips finished the heat with a time if 36:58.05.
The squad will return home to host Holy Cross and the University of Maine on April 6 at the Reggie F. Atkins track and field facility at the University of New Hampshire. The meet is set to start at 11 a.m.
