Amber McHugh was hired as UNH alpine ski assistant coach in January 2021. She is in her second season working with head coach Brian Blank in 2021-22.
UNH hosted the NCAAs in 2021 for the sixth time in program history. Will Bruneau-Bouchard of the alpine team earned All-American Second Team in slalom (8th place), and the Wildcats finished ninth overall.
Previously, McHugh spent 11 years (2007-18) coaching the men’s and women’s FIS teams at Burke Mountain Academy in Vermont before coaching at Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club in Colorado. McHugh, a former two-sport athlete (skiing, soccer) at Saint Michael’s College from 1999-2003, most recently coached in Oslo, Norway, in 2020.
McHugh, a Level 400 alpine coach, is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with USA Weightlifting Level 1 certification. She is working toward her master’s degree in strength and conditioning.
