DURHAM, N.H. - Senior Josh Kearns (Ridgefield, Conn.) finished third to lead the University of New Hampshire men's cross country team to a first-place finish at the Pre-America East Meet on Sunday afternoon at the University of Vermont.

The Wildcats finished with 39 points, ahead of Vermont (63), Boston University (68), the University of Maine (84), the University at Albany (85) and St. Michaels College (190).

Kearns finished the 8,000-meter run in 25 minutes, 40.80 seconds. Boston University's Eric Ashe won the 66-runner race in 25:24.16.

Senior Wesley Dinnan (Juneau, Alaska) placed sixth, finishing in a time of 25:47.49.

Freshman Cory Sinotte, graduate student Ben Jenkins (Francestown, N.H.) and sophomore Dan Decrescenzo (New Milford, Conn.) rounded out the UNH scorers, finishing ninth, 10th and 11th, respectively, in times of 26:11.42, 26:12.17 and 26:18.59.

The Wildcats return to action Friday, Sept. 25 at 3 p.m. when they travel to face Maine in a dual meet.
