WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Freshman forward Kevin Goumas (Lake Worth, Fla.) of the eighth-ranked University of New Hampshire men's hockey team was named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week. The announcement was made Monday by the league office. Goumas earns this award for the second time in three weeks as he also won Feb. 7.
Goumas registered a goal and three assists on the weekend for the Wildcats at Vermont. He tallied a goal and two assists in Friday night's 6-1 win over Vermont and dished out an assist in New Hampshire's game-tying goal. On Saturday night, he handed out an assist on a power play goal. Goumas was a +3 on the weekend with four shots on net.
New Hampshire returns to action for a home-and-home series with Northeastern University (Feb. 25-26). The teams play in Durham on Friday (7 p.m.) at the Whittemore Center. Tickets to the Northeastern game are available online at www.UNHWildcats.com.
