Wildcats Fall in First Conference Game vs. Vermont

DURHAM, N.H – The University of New Hampshire men's basketball team fell to Vermont, 60-40 on Saturday afternoon from Lundholm Gymnasium.
Junior guard Sami Pissis (Paris, France) scored 13 points and recorded seven rebounds for the Wildcats. Junior guard Anthony McComb III (Dayton, Ohio) added 10 points for the 'Cats.
The Wildcats fall to 2-14 (0-1 AE).

- Pissis made a layup for the game's first points. Then he knocked down a three-pointer after two Vermont made free throws (5-2).
- Vermont scored five straight points before McComb III drilled a three to tie the game at eight (15:08).
- The score tied at 15 before the Catamounts took their largest lead of the first half at 20-15. UNH responded with back-to-back three-pointers by freshman guard Antoni Siewruk (Koszalin, Poland) and junior guard Jawarie Hamelin (Westerly, R.I.).
- The Catamounts led the 'Cats 24-23 going into the locker room at halftime.

- Vermont began the second half with a 9-4 run over the first four minutes of play (34-26).
- Senior forward Giancarlo Bastianoni (Dominican Republic) made a three-pointer to thin the deficit to five points.
- An 11-3 run continued the breakaway lead for Vermont to put them up 45-32. McComb III made a three-pointer to return the score to a 10-point difference.
- The Catamounts remained consistent, won the game 60-40, and improved to 1-0 in conference play.
