Pissis Drops Career-High 33, Wildcats Fall Short Against River Hawks

LOWELL, Mass. – The University of New Hampshire men's basketball team fell to UMass Lowell, 92-74 Saturday afternoon at Costello Athletic Center.
Junior guard Sami Pissis (Paris, France) scored his career-high of 33 points, five assists, and four rebounds. Graduate student forward/center Emmanuel Okpomo (Delta State, Nigeria) tallied nine points and his career-high of 13 rebounds.
The Wildcats fall to 4-18 (2-5 AE).

- The River Hawks began the game up 6-2 but UNH fought back with a 5-2 run consisting of a sophomore forward Davide Poser (Veneto, Italy) three-pointer that tied the game at eight just over four minutes into the game.
- UMass Lowell took a nine-point lead and maintained their side of the scoreboard until the six-minute mark when junior guard Anthony McComb III (Dayton, Ohio) sparked a 7-2 Wildcat run to thin the deficit to three.
- The teams traded baskets all the way to the first half buzzer where McComb III faded away to put UNH down 40-38.

- Freshman guard Antoni Siewruk (Koszalin, Poland) drove through the lane to get the first points of the half and tie the game at 40. The teams traded points until UMass Lowell took a two-possession lead five minutes into the second half (52-47).
- Three-pointers on back-to-back possessions by Siewruk and Poser, followed by an Okpomo layup, put the 'Cats back down by three with 10:57 remaining.
- The River Hawks went on a 13-2 run over the next three minutes of play to go up 73-59. Despite Pissis' 33-point effort, the Wildcats were unable to come back as the River Hawks emerged victorious.

- The Wildcats return to action on Thursday, Jan. 30 for a 6 p.m. game at Maine (ESPN+).
