Black Bears Defeat Wildcats, Pissis Scores 20 Points

Orono, Maine. – The University of New Hampshire men's basketball team fell to Maine, 71-46 Thursday night at The Pit at Memorial Gymnasium.
Junior guard Sami Pissis (Paris, France) recorded 20 points and six rebounds, junior guard Anthony McComb III (Dayton, Ohio) tallied 11 points, and freshman guard Khalil Badru (New Britain, Conn.) tallied eight points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats fall to 4-19 (2-6 AE).

- Pissis made two free throws and knocked down a three-pointer to start the scoring for the 'Cats. McComb III drove through the lane to convert a layup. In the process, Maine scored 16 points (16-7 Maine through the first ten minutes).
- The Black Bears kept their foot on the gas pedal as they went on a 9-2 run over the next three minutes (25-9).
- A posterizing dunk by Badru highlighted the final five Wildcat points of the first half. Pissis' 10 first-half points marks his 13th consecutive game with double-digit points.

- Pissis began the second half with an impressive layup. But the Black Bears continued their first-half success and it was too much for the Wildcats to come back from.
- Other Wildcats who found the bottom of the basket in the second half were McComb III, junior guard Jawarie Hamelin (Westerly, R.I.), and Badru.
- Maine finished the game off with a 25-point lead and extended their winning streak to six.

- The Wildcats return to action and kick off February on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. when they host UMBC (ESPN+).
