Wildcats Drop Away Matchup at Vermont, 70-54

BURLINGTON, V.T. – Grad student forward Jaxson Baker (Phoenix, Ariz.) and senior forward Clarence Daniels (Brooklyn Park, Minn) recorded double doubles as the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team fell to Vermont, 70-54 on Thursday evening from Patrick Gym.
Baker scored 14 points and collected 12 rebounds for the Wildcats. Daniels buried 11 for the 'Cats and had 10 rebounds.
The Wildcats' record falls to 14-10 (6-5 AE) and Vermont's improves to 20-6 (10-1 AE).

FIRST HALF:
- The game was tied 2-2 for the first 2:30 of the game. The lead changed four times over the next five minutes.
- With the Wildcats down, Daniels drained a three to take the lead, 9-7 with 14:27 to go in the half.
- The Catamounts opened the largest lead of the half at five points but three-pointers on back-to-back possessions by Baker and junior forward Trey Woodyard (London, Ohio) gave the 'Cats a 19-18 lead with7:50 remaining in the half, forcing a Vermont timeout.
- Sophomore guard Dior Davis (New York, N.Y.) blocked a Catamount shot down low and went coast to coast drawing a foul. He sank both free throws to take a one-point lead. Vermont's Aaron Deloney drained a buzzer beater three to give the Catamounts a 29-27 heading into half time.
SECOND HALF:
- The 'Cats were first to score in the half, tying the game 29-29 but Vermont scored 12 unanswered taking a 41-31 lead with 15:06 left in the game.
- The Catamounts offense persisted, extending the lead to 12, 50-38, with 9:03 remaining.
- Vermont held on and secured the 70-54 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The first half saw 10 lead changes as the score was also tied six times.
- Baker recorded his fifth double double in the contest and Daniels recorded his team leading 10th.
