Robinson Drops 27 in Victory Over NJIT, 83-78

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior guard Ahmad Robinson (West Orange, N.J.) recorded a season high 27 points for the Wildcats as the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team took down NJIT 83-78 on Thursday night at Lundholm Gymnasium.
Robinson shot 80% from the field (8-10), 100% from beyond the arc (2-2) and 90% (9-10) from the charity stripe. Senior forward Clarence Daniels (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) recorded 11 points and collected 14 rebounds for his team leading 11th double double.
The Wildcats' record improves to 15-10 (7-5 AE) and NJIT falls to 7-18 (3-10 AE).

FIRST HALF:
- NJIT opened with threes on back-to-back processions and tacked on a mid-range jumper. The Wildcats responded with a set of their own threes from junior forward Trey Woodyard (London, Ohio) and sophomore guard Rex Sunderland (Kaysville, Utah) to bring the deficit to two, 8-6 NJIT led.
- Robinson tied the game at 8-8 with two successful free throws.
- Freshman guard Davide Poser (Veneto, Italy) forced a ball from an NJIT guard and dished it out to Baker for a three. Poser followed that up with a three of his own in the corner forcing an NJIT timeout and giving the Wildcats a 21-13 lead.
- With 13:37 remaining in the first half, UNH went on a dominant 14-point run, sparked by a Woodward jump shot, which shifted the game in favor of the 'Cats.
- The half ended with a score of 42-39 with the 'Cats in the lead.
SECOND HALF:
- The Highlanders outscored the 'Cats in the first few minutes, completing the comeback and tying the game 46-46.
- The second half went back and forth with the final 10:35 seeing eight lead changes between the teams.
- Daniels took matters into his own hands and went on a solid 5-point run, putting the 'Cats back on top 69-67 with 5:59 left.
- NJIT then stole the lead with a three-pointer, but Woodyard was quick to take it back with a successful and one.
- In the final minute, Robinson sank six free throws, including a vital play under the basket that secured the 83-78 Wildcat victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- In the first half, the 'Cats shot 60.0% from beyond the arc.
- UNH combined to shoot 53.7% from the field.
- The 'Cats spent the longest time with the lead, 27:17.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The 'Cats went on a 14-0 run over 4:05 in the first half. Of those 14 points, 12 of them were three pointers scored on consecutive processions.
